DHCP Server

DHCP Server turns your DiskStation into a DHCP server which can assign dynamic IP addresses to DHCP clients within your local area network.

See the sections below to learn how to configure the following settings of your DHCP Server.

General

Click the General tab to enable DHCP Server and manage its subnet list. Each subnet contains a range of local IP addresses that can be assigned to your DHCP clients.

To enable DHCP Server:

  1. Tick Enable DHCP Server.
  2. Enter a value in the Address lease time field to set the DHCP lease time (in minutes) for IP addresses assigned to DHCP clients.
  3. Enter the DNS address for your DHCP clients in the Primary DNS (required) and Secondary DNS (optional) fields.
  4. Set the domain name for DHCP Server in the Domain name (optional) field.
  5. Click Apply.

To add a subnet:

  1. Click Add and then specify the information under the following columns:

  1. You can only add up to 32 subnets on your DHCP Server.

To remove a subnet

Select the subnet you want to remove from the subnet list, click Remove and then click Apply.

Client List

Click the Client List tab to see the list of DHCP clients and its network configuration (such as MAC address, IP address, hostname, and the amount of time left before the DHCP lease expires).

Furthermore, if you want to have a client always receive the same IP address during DHCP lease renewal, you can add the client to the address reservation list.

To add a client to the address reservation list:

Under the Client List, right-click the client and then choose Add to address reservation. For more information about managing clients added to the reservation list, refer to the next section.

Address Reservation

Click the Address Reservation tab to manage the list of the DHCP clients that will always receive the same IP address during DHCP lease renewal.

To add a client to the address reservation list, do either of the following:

To remove a client from the reservation list:

Select the client, click Remove and then click Apply. Clients removed from the list might receive a different IP address during next DHCP lease renewal.
